Have you been thinking of heading to the top of the Eiffel Tower? Or perhaps, you are planning to explore the Nymphenburg Palace. Before you start selecting your flight dates and booking your seats, you may need to find out what your visa requirements are when visiting such Schengen state destinations. Fortunately, this guide on Schengen visa requirements for UAE citizens by Travelstart will answer any questions you may have.
Currently, as a UAE citizen, you do not need to apply for a Schengen visa if you wish to visit any of the 26 Schengen states, as long as your stay is less than 90 days. From 1 January 2021, however, you will need to apply for ETIAS approval in order to visit a destination that falls under the Schengen territories. More on this later.
The current process for Schengen visa requirements
Since the current Schengen visa requirements mean you can visit any Schengen state without applying for a visa, you can simply book your flights and head to your chosen destination.
Once you have landed, at the point of entry, you must submit the following for review:
- Your passport (valid for at least three months beyond the end of your intended stay)
- Evidence of the purpose of your visit (hotel booking, itinerary, etc.)
- Proof that you have the financial means to support your stay (proof of employment, bank statements)
- Other documents that may be required by specific states if you are in transit (you can avoid this if you stay within the transit area during your layover)
Take note, that you may not work or study under these Schengen visa requirements, but you may conduct business.
ETIAS (European Travel Information Authorization System) will be implemented for the sake of reducing procedure and application times and ensuring maximum safety measures. It will also serve to address migration issues.
From the beginning of 2021, you will need to apply for ETIAS authorization by completing a straightforward online application form. You will need to answer a series of questions regarding your personal information. The information required will include:
- Full name
- Current address
- Date and place of birth
- Employment history
- Parents’ information (identification, contact information, etc.)
- Passport or other nationality details (if applicable)
- If you have previously travelled to conflict areas (places where there is political and civil unrest)
- Your past European travel information
Once more information regarding the ETIAS system becomes available, we will update our information so that you will have everything you need to meet your future Schengen visa requirements.
But for now
Since ETIAS will not be live until 2021, your current Schengen visa requirements are simple enough that you will have very little to worry about, other than booking your flights, packing your bags and setting off to an exciting European destination!
